An intensive care unit, or ICU, is a specialized section of a hospital that provides comprehensive and continuous care for persons who are critically ill and who can benefit from treatment. Patients are generally admitted to an ICU if they are likely to benefit from the level of care provided. The purpose of the Care Regional Medical Center Intensive Care Unit is to provide around-the-clock intensive monitoring and treatment of patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
